Iserbyt wins GC in Hulst
Thursday 6 January 2022
There are still two heats to go and yet Eli Iserbyt is already certain of the overall victory in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup 2021-2022. His second place in Hulst was enough to put the final victory in the GC on his name. We look back at the past few months and Iserbyt's winning streak.
In the opening round in Waterloo Iserbyt immediately did what was needed: a fine victory on American soil. The 24-year old Belgian immediately had the taste for it, because scarcely a week later he was back on top. This time he showed his good legs in Iowa City and took his second victory. With an additional second place in Fayetteville, his American season start was more than successful. Iserbyt returned to Belgium with the leader's jersey on his shoulders.
A jersey that he would not relinquish, because in the following races he continued to get podium after podium. He won Overijse, Koksijde and Besançon and was on the podium in Zonhoven (3rd), Tabor (2nd), Rucphen (2nd) and Hulst (2nd). With a 95 point lead over Michael Vanthourenhout, Iserbyt is already sure of the overall win in the 2021-2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup after 13 of 15 rounds.
Enjoy below how Iserbyt took the final classification. Want to see the results of the different heats in detail? Check them out here.
