In 2025, Maasmechelen hosted the penultimate round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. Among the Women Elite, we witnessed an intense thriller. Kata Blanka Vas narrowly held off Zoe Backstedt. Lucinda Brand finished third, securing the overall World Cup victory. In the men's category, Mathieu van der Poel put on a spectacular show.
Women Elite
Kata Blanka Vas claimed victory in the UCI World Cup round in Maasmechelen. On a very tough course, she engaged in a hard-fought battle with Zoe Backstedt and Lucinda Brand.
Men Elite
Mathieu van der Poel has claimed another World Cup victory, this time in Maasmechelen. The world champion capitalised on Wout van Aert’s fall in the second lap, upped the pace and, by the end of the race, saw his lead grow to over a minute.
